Imagica Takes Gold in First Nations Cup
Imagica took the gold medal in the First Nations Cup for Ballet on Ice, held April 24-25 in Toulouse France. This was the first year of the new event, which was hosted by the French Ice Sport Federation and the Toulouse Club Patinage.
Featuring teams from seven nations, competing in Adult, Senior, Junior, and Novice levels, the two-day event featured some of the world's best Theatre on Ice teams. In the end, Imagica led the field of three teams to take the gold in the Adult division.
Sadly, the event was marred by the volcanic ash cloud from the Iceland volcano, and six of ten Novice, Junior, and Senior teams from the US (including our sister team, Act One) had to withdraw because they were unable to travel. At end of competition, both US medals were won by adult teams - Imagica's gold, and the silver earned by the Space Coast Frozen Hurricanes from Florida.
The 2011 Nations Cup will be closer to home - hosted in April by the Yarmouth Ice Club in Yarmouth, MA.
